Digital Nomad Visas: Estonia

working from tallinn estonia

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that I have been considering digital nomad visas for a longer term stay. While that plan has been delayed for a year, its still in the works. So far I’ve looked at Greece, Cyprus, and Malta, and in this post I’ll be exploring the digital nomad visa offered by the northern European country Estonia.

I spent quite a few enjoyable months in former Soviet states the previous summer, and find the history and culture of this area quite compelling, which is why Estonia is on my radar. But first, the facts:

My Initial Thoughts

Estonia is in north eastern Europe, and I am very intrigued by the opportunity to explore a part of Europe that I have not spent any time in before, and to escape the brutal heat and crowds of southern and central Europe during the summer peak months. The idea of positing up in accessible and affordable Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, for several months, and vacationing periodically in the nearby Baltic countries that I’ve missed while pursuing beachy vibes is very tempting. However, as a person who has been chasing summer for the past two years, and really can’t stand any amount of cold weather, I’m only seeing three months, maybe five at a stretch, where I would be comfortable. It could still be a good option for an abbreviated version of this plan, but only within a pretty specific window during the year, at least for this Floridian.

Where to Find More Information

Keep in mind that these are my own high-level notes on the information I found about obtaining a digital nomad in Estonia. If you are interested in applying for a digital nomad visa in Estonia, I encourage you to do your own research. A good place to start is the official Estonia government website for their digital nomad visa program: https://visitestonia.com/en/digital-nomad-visa

Next, I’ll consider the digital nomad visa available in Panama. If you’d like to keep learning more about the tax-advantaged, longer-term digital nomad stays I’m considering, make sure to sign up for my newsletter below!
